Mainpoint success with detectomat’s SRC3000 wireless detect systems

Listed farmhouse goes wireless
Listed dwellings present particular challenges for owners when any installations are considered. For example, historic walls cannot be disturbed or floorboards lifted to install wiring. Cotswold Farm, a small Grade 2 star listed farmhouse dating from the 1700’s needed fire protection but the owners were conscious of statutory restrictions. They needed to find a cost effective solution to their needs for fire protection whilst satisfying English Heritage. To advise on the best way forward, the Cotswold Farm Trust was recommended to Mainpoint Fire Protection who provide fire alarm installation and protection services in the Gloucestershire area.
Mrs. Iona Birchall, who lives in the house, was determined to avoid unsightly wiring which would mar the beautiful interior. Mainpoint recommended detectomat’s SRC 3000 wireless detect system which includes optical smoke detectors with integral sounders, break-glass call points and heat detectors. The choice was made because it is very reliable and particularly suitable for heritage
buildings. The advantages of being wire free not only include avoiding damage to historic walls and ceilings but also cost. The whole installation of a panel, 39 devices and 3 repeaters took only 4 days. Because of the speed, labour charges were kept to a minimum and there was very little disruption to day to day business – essential in a house with many visitors.
Mrs. Birchall says “Cotswold Farm dates from the 1700’s and was substantially extended in the 1920’s in the Arts & Crafts style. Mainpoint came highly recommended by English Heritage. They took great care of the character of the architecture and intricate plasterwork. They sited the smoke and heat sensors and the repeater panels as sensitively as possible. And were a pleasure to have in the house.”

Elite Fire Safety success with detectomat’s SRC3000 wireless detect systems

Elite selects detectomat’s SRC 3000 for Victorian residential flats When Kent’s Elite Fire Safety Ltd (Elite) were faced with providing fire protection for Charlesville Mansions, a million pound apartment block in a charming red brick mansion within the
sought-after conservation area of Barons Court near to Fulham and Kensington High Street, they knew that their selection of fire alarm was critical because damage to the Victorian fabric of the building caused by chasing out precious plasterwork to install wires and cables should be avoided. Elite had worked with detectomat’s SRC 3000, a radiolinked, wireless solution system before, in which smoke alarm’s etc transmit data by radio to a receiver panel. They knew that it offered the considerable advantages of being wire free, which not only include avoiding damage to historic walls and ceilings but also cost.
Because installation is so fast, labour charges are kept to a minimum and there is very little noise and disruption, another important factor in this sought after residential area. Douglas and Gordon, an up market London estate agent, block and property Management Company, instructed Elite to install independent wireless fire alarms into each of the 5 separate entrances knowing that they would respect the nature and quality of the building. Elite are based in Kent to provide fire protection for many types of businesses throughout Kent and London including offices, warehouses, schools, manufacturing plants, listed buildings, private residential, private commercial, retail, care homes, local authority premises, hotels and many others.
Sophia Scott, Douglas and Gordon’s Property Manager commented, “Elite Fire Safety carried out their works swiftly and kept disruption for the residents to a minimum. The detectomat wireless system is much smaller and more discreet than others I have seen and does not detract from the look of the building; I would not hesitate in using Elite or detectomat’s SRC 3000 again.”
SRC 3000 for Raglan Court
It is clearly important for any managing agent/landlord to use all reasonable means to keep costs down and disruption to a minimum. Such was the case at Raglan Court in Empire Way Wembley, a HMO (House in Multiple Occupation) comprising of 13 separate entrances, each providing a common access to 9 private residential flats. Following a fire risk assessment, Douglas and Gordon, one of the largest managing agents in London, were instructed by Nessdale Ltd, the residents association responsible for the property, to install 13 wireless fire alarm systems into the 13 independent entrances. The work was carried out as part of a much larger scheme which included emergency lighting throughout the common areas, new exterior lighting, fire extinguishers and emergency procedures and plans. Elite selected detectomat’s SRC 3000 because it is wireless and therefore avoided the necessity for chasing out the concrete walls and ceilings for cabling. The client was delighted that there was consequently very little disruption and noise was kept to a minimum in this residential area. This of course had a considerable beneficial effect on the project cost. detectomat manufacture all the SRC3000 components in-house under strict EN standards ensuring the highest possible quality at very competitive prices. Neil Perring of Elite always specifies SRC 3000 for buildings of up to 6 storeys, if and when appropriate. Elite provide the very best fire alarm installation and protection services and MD Neil Perring is very pleased with detectomat’s reliability. detectomat’s product offer ranges from design conscious detector covers for residential and commercial applications to conventional, addressable and leading edge wire-free systems, marketed under the company’s “wireless detect” brand.

No Wires, Best value Fire System for Boutique Guest House

When Suzie Adams the proprietor of The White House, a distinctive Victorian “boutique” guest house overlooking Hastings Old Town, called Chatham-based Monitor Fire Ltd. to advise her on fire protection she was pleased to discover that the installation of the fire alarm system would not have to damage her beautifully restored premises. Each of the distinctive rooms, all named after American presidents reflects great care and attention to detail so the last thing she wanted was the cabling, mess and disruption associated with wired systems. Monitor Fire, who specialise in the supply, installation and maintenance of fire protection and extinguisher systems in London and the South East designed and installed a system using Detectomat’s SRC 3000 wire free radio fire alarm and detection system. The Detectomat system offers many benefits over a traditional hard wired system, including low cost of installation, cost effectiveness and convenience for premises that are in continual public use. Its benefits make it ideal for the protection of small hotels, B & Bs, and guest houses, nurseries, sheltered housing schemes, special needs projects and residential homes as well as small commercial premises and HMO’s (Houses of Multiple Occupation). It was installed in The White House within one day as opposed to the 7 or 8 days associated with conventional installations, meaning there was very little impact on their year-round, 24/7 business. Suzie Adams, is delighted with the total flexibility it offers and was really pleased to be able to select the “designer” covers for the alarms to suit the individual décor in the bedrooms and function rooms.
Monitor Fire are approved suppliers and installers of the Detectomat system. They are an established fire protection company and were formed in 2001 by Deryck Bottomley, the current MD. Gold Cup town in need of specialist treatment

As an historic town, Cheltenham is full of historic buildings which demand particular treatment and the town is Mainpoint Fire Protection’s main area of operation. Alan Gatenby, Mainpoint’s Fire Protection Consultant has been recommending the Detectomat Wireless detect system for several years and finds it very reliable and particularly appreciates its suitability for heritage buildings.
Martin & Co, jewellers with a history going back to George III’s reign, who make the Gold Cup for the famous Cheltenham event, selected Mainpoint to install their fire alarms having been impressed by one of their recent installations where they had used the Detectomat system.
Passive measures to protect the building prevent the fire spreading and provide means of escape but active measures are also needed and these include fire detection and alarm, suppression systems and signage. In the case of an historic building, the loss of any authentic fabric in a fire is irretrievable yet a surprisingly large number of buildings still retain the fire hazard of wiring installed in the mid 19th century. Fire detection, warning and suppression systems need to be selected to minimise any effect on the building and its contents. In the design and installation of Fire Detection Systems for historic and listed buildings, it is far preferable to avoid hard wiring between units by specifying a radio-linked, wireless solution like the Detectomat system, in which each unit transmits data by radio frequency to a receiver.
Mainpoint provide the very best fire alarm installation and protection services and MD Mike Fowler is very pleased with Detectomat’s reliability. Detectomat’s product offering ranges from design conscious detector covers for residential and commercial applications to conventional, addressable and leading edge wire-free systems, marketed under the company’s “Wireless detect” brand. Cheltenham’s Vanilla gets detectomat’s wireless treatment

Mainpoint Fire Protection has been handling installations in the Regency town for nearly 20 years. They need to be able to rely on specialist products where an unblemished final finish is vital and where the job needs to be completed quickly to avoid any adverse effect on trade. Alan Gatenby, Mainpoint’s Fire Protection Consultant says “The Detectomat SRC 3000 wireless detect fire alarm system is very reliable and we recommended its use in Vanilla, a heritage building where it was vital that extraneous wiring did spoil the historic fabric of the building.”
Vanilla is a well established business comprising a restaurant, a hair and beauty salon and an apartment situated in an elegant Regency building in the heart of Cheltenham. The installation of fire protection was required in the hairdressing salons, beauty salons and accommodation above. Solid flooring and panelled walls meant installing a conventional fire alarm would have been highly problematic - time consuming, disruptive to daily business and costly - but the Detectomat product was installed in a day with no damage to décor or disruption to ongoing trade. And in addition, the unique designer range of detectors beautifully complemented the Regency décor of the buildings.
As a local company Mainpoint offer a professional team of skilled staff provide quality workmanship, first-rate customer service and dependability. Coupled with that is Mainpoint’s selection of the very best products for the specialist needs in this Regency town, including the detectomat SRC 3000.
