History

Spirit of research and over 50 years of years of experience - a great chapter

In 1968 Eduard J. Job - at that time Director of the Board at Minimax AG - initiated and built up a new electronic department dedicated to research & development, manufacturing and distribution of new smoke detectors. Under the leadership of Eduard J. Job, Hartwig O. Beyersdorf and a group of creative engineers, they developed a new series of electronic smoke detectors utilizing a field effect transistor which for this purpose was revolutionary in the European market. Based on these experiences, Beyersdorf developed other types of smoke detectors for Esser, Eff Eff and Hekatron.

Spurred by these developments, Beyersdorf founded in 1977 the company detectomat GmbH, which became one of the most qualified smoke detector manufacturers in Germany. As OEM for the Bosch-Group, detectomat built over 600,000 industrial smoke detectors, which were installed at well-known companies like Mercedes, Porsche, Rolls Royce, BMW and Bayer as well as at the Allianz-Group and the Münchner Rückversicherung. Hence, detectomat detectors are either very visible for each passenger at the airport in Frankfurt or they are installed in critical environments such as at a nuclear power station. The detectomat smoke detectors are famous for their robust engineering design, stylish look and daily prove their quality and efficiency.

In 1999, detectomat GmbH was acquired by the JOB Group - the world leading manufacturer of thermal glass bulbs for sprinklers used in fire suppression systems. A team of young, ambitious engineers then develop within a very short time the new smoke detector generation detect 3000 for demanding industrial and trade customers in Germany and Europe and also for overseas markets. Wireless and home detectors complete the product range. Taking advantage of synergetic effects of both companies, the technical staff creates a base for the further development of modern smoke detector systems. The application for and granting of numerous patents testifies the power of detectomat innovation capabilities. At the same time, the German distribution structure of detectomat GmbH is revised and international distribution outlets are built up, and these are supported by the world wide distribution channels of the JOB Group.

In mid 2003, the JOB Group also integrated and redeveloped DBM - their supplier of control panels - through a complete take-over of the DBM GmbH company. Liquidity and reliability return with the intern management as well as improved supplier and customer relations. This way detectomat is capable of delivering - as an integrated system seller carrying the highly touted VdS mark - a complete smoke detection systems out of one hand at competitive prices. A central service team supports the customers of detectomat with qualified advisory before and after installation as well as offering specialist service on their systems. A strong development team is founded to redevelop and further optimize the proven modular smoke detector systems of detectomat according to a trend setting concept.

detectomat GmbH has - through incorporation into the JOB Group and the new take-over of DBM - managed to bundle research spirit, competence and experience to achieve the highest level of worldwide appreciation: "The German detectomat smoke sensor alarming system and the fire-fighting system is more sensitive, more accurate and more intelligent." The JOB GmbH

The JOB GmbH was established in 1971 by Dipl.-Ing. Eduard J. Job. Since their introducing JOB THERMO BULBS have become the standard heat responsive glass bulbs for the sprinkler industry. Due to high quality and reliability up to 800 Million JOB THERMO BULBS were now installed worldwide by all major sprinkler manufacturers for service in fire protection and life safety.

In the mid-1980's JOB GmbH developed smaller and faster THERMO BULBS retaining the superior features of previous designs thus meeting all requirements of effective fire safety. The JOB GmbH was the first company who introduced Fast Response THERMO BULBS to the industry.

The unique and patent bone shape design of JOB THERMO BULBS combined with the special F-liquid are decisive factors for the outstanding thermal response and the superior strength of the glass bulbs.

An outstanding quality control system together with unique visual computerized inspection methods ensures that JOB THERMO BULBS fulfill all stringent in-house quality requirements. The majority of JOB THERMO BULBS are component recognized at national and international approval agencies like UL, LPCB, VdS, TFRI, etc.

In areas where a thermally actuated self-releasing mechanism is required to operate in the event of fire, such as Kitchen Hoods, Paint Booths, etc. JOB THERMO BULB LINKS can be used. JOB has combined the successfully proven THERMO BULB technology with a strong and innovative Link design.

The needs of Sprinkler manufacturers to significantly improve output and flexibility of the quality assured sprinkler production brought JOB GmbH to develop a system of Sprinkler Test Equipment like integrity test equipment, bath test equipment, etc. JOB bath test equipment is shown in international standards like ISO and CEN.
